The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 make it compulsory for all UK employers to provide this training to each of their employees. Moving and handling is any activity which involves pushing, pulling, carrying or lifting. Its official definition is the 'transporting or supporting of a load by hand or by bodily force'.

Manual handling is essential for everyday life and so it is no surprise that more than one third of all workplace injuries are the result of such activities. The Manual Handling Regulations are in force to protect everyone's health and wellbeing and to make the work environment a safer place. The entire course is based around the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, helping you to abide with the law.

This health and safety training course focuses on how to prevent an injury. It is designed to give you and your workforce the right skills and practical techniques to lift inanimate objects. Should a person's spine and back be damaged, it can have irreversible effects which may affect the injured person for the rest of their life. For this reason, we highly recommend this course, not only to abide by legislation, but to also look after the long term health and wellbeing of your workforce.

This course also includes a free risk assessment form which is available to every online user assigned to a course. Find out more by clicking this link: 5 steps to risk assessments.

Once a course has been purchased it will expire one calendar year from the day it is bought. When a user has passed and completed a main course, they will receive a certificate of achievement which lasts for three years; refresher course certificates will expire one calendar year from completion.
